Women's Hoops Team Loses to SWCC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women's basketball team dropped a conference game with Southwestern CC on Saturday by a 70-56 score at Dittmer Gym.

The Panthers suffered through a cold-shooting afternoon, hitting only 24 percent of their shots and making only 3-of-30 3-point attempts.  ECC had 29 more field goal tries than their opponent but couldn't take advantage of the big discrepancy in shots.  That margin was helped by Ellsworth's 21 offensive rebounds, a total that included eight boards by Autumn Shull.  Shull led the Panthers in rebounds with 11 and Ellie Barrows topped the scoring with 13 points, the only ECC player in double figures.  Jada Mullinex threw in nine points, Keara Williams eight and Halle Miller seven.  Williams also provided six assists and eight steals.  The Panthers' 10 turnovers were their second-lowest total of the season.

After trailing 34-15 at the half, ECC outscored the Spartans, 39-36, in the final half, and put up 23 points in the 4th quarter.

Ellsworth will host NIACC Wednesday night.
