West Burlington, Iowa -- Southeastern CC got a big second-half performance to pull away and defeat visiting Ellsworth CC, 72-46, Saturday afternoon at Loren Walker Arena. The Panthers were down a point after one quarter and were tied with the BlackHawks, 26-26, at intermission. ECC, though, suffered through a cold-shooting 3rd period when they were outscored, 28-7, and SCC finished off the visitors in the final quarter.
Keara Williams and Ellie Barrows paced the Ellsworth scoring by tallying 10 points each. Barrows' total included a pair of 3-pointers. Hydiyah Robinson provided eight points off the bench. Ellsworth outrebounded Southeastern, 39-37, as Williams and Autumn Shull each pulled down five boards.
In a battle for bragging rights in the Iowa Valley Community College District on Wednesday night, Ellsworth will host Marshalltown CC in their first of two regular-season matchups.
