Iowa Falls, IA – Seventh-ranked Des Moines Area Community College hosted Ellsworth Community College on Monday and gave up just five hits in two games. The Panthers fell by 8-0 and 13-0 finals.
Game one the Bears (28-3, 4-0) led 1-0 after the opening frame and then put up five runs in the second and one each in the fourth and fifth to end the contest early. They tagged the three ECC pitchers for 11 knocks. Not needing the offensive help, they also reached on six balls. Erin Ades hit her seventh home run of the season and had three RBI.
Taking the loss in the circle was Julissia Arias, who gave up two hits, three earned runs and walked three in 1.1 innings of work. Kaitlyn Mick went three innings and gave up seven hits, five earned runs, walked three and struck out two. Peytin Clemensen came in during the final frame.
Alli Paulsen had the lone extra base hit for ECC (9-13, 0-4), a double, and the other knock was by Kiera Hochstein. The two DMACC hurlers – Kierra Jungers (14-0) and Brooklyn Baumgardner combined to fan eight.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bears quickly jumped all over the visitors, scoring seven runs in the first. They added to their lead, scoring five more in the second before ending the contest with one in the fourth. They did their damage on 13 hits – including six extra base hits and two round trippers.
Angelica Agro took the loss on the mound, with nine hits, 12 runs (all earned) two walks and two strikeouts. Clemensen threw the final 2.1 innings with three hits, one run and a walk.
Paulsen had another double while Miakoda Whitehorse also had a two-bagger. The other knock was a single by Taryn Petty.
The Panthers travel to Hawkeye Community College (9-22, 0-4) on Wednesday.
