Clermont, FL – Ellsworth Community College picked up a pair of victories in Clermont, Fla. on Tuesday.
Starting out with Northland Community and Technical College, the two started the contest but a couple of injuries put the Pioneers below what they felt comfortable playing with. That led to a forfeit win for the Panthers, that will go down as a 7-0 victory.
ECC then won a high scoring contest against Erie Community College, 19-11. The contest included 20 hits by the Panthers and a staggering 12 errors by the Kats.
The Panthers took the 2-1 lead and continued to add to their advantage, leading 12-3 midway through the fifth frame. Erie scored eight runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to just one (12-11), but ECC pulled away in the seventh and scored seven runs to win it.
The Panthers had huge offensive games with Ella Garstang, Taryn Petty, Emmalee Bell and Avery Somers all having three hits in the contest. Somers was 3-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Bell had two doubles and two RBI. Emery Walton and Kaitlyn Mick also had multiple hit games.
ECC used four different pitchers in the circle, with Peytin Clemensen getting the win. She threw 3.2 innings and allowed five hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks and two strikeouts in 21 batters faced. Hailey Sheaffer, Annabelle Nessa and Angelica Agro also got time pitching.
