Harding Helps ECC Blast Culver-Stockton JV

CANTON, MISSOURI --  Sophomore Maddy Harding went 9-for-10 and drove in 9 runs as the Ellsworth Panthers rolled to a doubleheader sweep of the Culver-Stockton junior varsity, winning 14-8 and 9-3 on Friday.

Harding was 5-for-5, scored 4 times and knocked in 4 runs with 2 doubles, and she also stole 3 bases, in the opener.  She followed that up with a 4-for-5 game in the nightcap with 5 RBIs and a home run.

The Panthers rapped out 30 hits in the 2 games as they improved their season record to 8-10.

ECC got a couple of complete game pitching performances, from Taryn Cory in game 1 and Angelica Agro in the second contest.  Cory gave up 4 earned runs in her start and Agro struck out 10 and didn't walk anybody for her 4th win of the spring.

The Panthers' 18-hit attack in the opener was led by Harding's 5 hits along with 3 by Emma Gordon and Taryn Petty and 2 by Agro.  Petty picked up 3 RBIs and Gracie Pierce 2.

Ellsworth grabbed a quick 7-2 lead after 2 1/2 innings in the next game and stroked 12 more hits.  Pierce, Kendra Rohner and Lilea Prahm all scored 2 times.

ECC goes to Southwestern CC for a doubleheader next Tuesday.
