Panther Softball Gains Split in KC

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI -- After trailing early, the Ellsworth softball squad rallied for a 10-5 win in the nightcap of a Sunday doubleheader with Metropolitan CC.  MCC had taken game one, 9-1.

The Panthers slammed out 13 hits in their win with leadoff hitter Emma Gordon going 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 driven in.  Elli Han stroked 3 hits including a pair of doubles and Kierstyn Sutton had 2 hits.  Kendra Rohner scored two times and Lilea Prahm and Taryn Cory had 2 RBIs apiece.  Cory also doubled. 

ECC starting pitcher Angelica Agro gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, then saw her teammates score 4 runs in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 7th.  Agro notched her 3rd win of the season, striking out 6 in a complete game effort.

MCC surged ahead with 6 runs in the 3rd inning of game one.  Han singled and tripled and Rohner had a single.  Maddy Harding scored the ECC run.  Cory went the first 3 innings and Kaitlyn Mick pitched an inning of relief. 

Kansas City Kansas CC and the Panthers will meet in a doubleheader on Monday.
