
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- A 2-hit shutout by freshman Angelica Agro helped the Ellsworth Panthers get a split in Monday's doubleheader with the Mt. Mercy junior varsity. Agro, from Turin, Italy, walked 1 and struck out 3 in notching her 2nd victory of the spring. She was backed up by a 12-hit attack, that included 2 hits apiece by Maddy Harding, Taryn Petty, Lilea Prahm and Kierstyn Sutton. The Panthers prevailed in the opener, 8-0, before falling, 15-7, in the second game.
Emma Gordon doubled and knocked in 3 runs in the first game and Elli Han had 2 RBIs. Sutton also doubled and Harding scored twice.
Han, Gordon and Gracie Pierce each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the nightcap. Taryn Cory started in the circle and went 2 innings before Kaitlyn Mick and Agro each threw an inning of relief.
The Panthers are idle until playing doubleheaders at Kansas City Kansas CC March 8 and 9.
