ECC Softball Earns NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honor; 6 Players Also Honored for Academics

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- With a team grade point average of 3.19, the Ellsworth Community College softball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.  And 6 Panther softball players earned spots on one of the three All-Academic Teams for their work in the classroom.  Players on the 1st team had GPAs of 4.0, those on the 2nd team had GPAs of 3.8 to 3.99, and 3rd team members were those with GPAs between 3.6 and 3.79.  

On the NJCAA 2nd team are sophomores Lauren Brennan and Madeline Myer and freshmen Marleigh Sikes and Kierstyn Sutton.  3rd Team members are freshmen Katie DeMaio and Maddie Harding.

This is the 4th year in a row that the ECC softball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

Ellsworth Community College saw its baseball, men's basketball, softball, volleyball and women's wrestling teams all named Academic Teams of the Year and 37 ECC student-athletes made one of the NJCAA All-Academic Teams.
