Six Ellsworth Softball Players on All-Region Team

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth CC placed six players on the ICCAC All-Region softball team for 2023.  Two sophomores -- Lauren Brennan and Madeline Myer -- were named to the All-Region 2nd team along with freshmen Emma Gordon and Maddy Harding.  Two more freshmen, Gracie Pierce and Taryn Cory, received Honorable Mention honors.

Harding, from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, was picked for the 2nd team as an outfielder.  She led the Panthers in nearly every offensive category this season.  Harding paced ECC in batting average (.438), at-bats (138), runs (47), hits (57), doubles (11), triples (5), home runs (6), total bases (96), slugging percentage (.738), on-base percentage (.507) and stolen bases (16) while playing in all 46 games.

Brennan, a two-year starter from Clinton, Iowa, earned 2nd team honors for the 2nd year in a row.  She appeared in all 95 games Ellsworth played over the past 2 seasons.  This spring, Brennan had a .350 batting average and led ECC with 28 RBIs.  She stroked 4 doubles and 3 homers and had 41 hits and 13 runs.  Brennan also pitched in a team-high 23 games and threw 77 innings.  Her freshman season, she batted .371 and pitched in 8 games.  For her 2-year ECC career, Brennan had a .362 batting average with 90 hits, 11 homers, 63 RBIs and she drew 49 walks.  

Myer, who is from St. Marys, Iowa, made the All-Region team as a utility player.  She was 2nd on the Panthers in batting average (.374) and had 8 doubles among her 43 hits.  Myer scored 15 runs and drove in 20.

Gordon, a catcher from Barneveld, Wisconsin, batted .364 in her first season of college softball.  She collected 44 hits, including 5 doubles, a triple and a home run.  She had 14 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

An infielder on the Honorable Mention list, Pierce, from Linwood, Kansas, hit .331 with 39 hits, 19 runs and 21 RBIs.  She recorded 5 doubles and a triple while playing in 45 games.

Cory is from Basehor, Kansas, and gained a spot on the All-Region team as a utility player.  She compiled a .267 batting average and 3 of her 27 hits went for extra bases.  She also scored 13 runs.  Cory also pitched a total of 41 innings in 14 games and she started in the circle 12 times.
