CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC softball team saw its season come to an end in the Region XI tournament, hosted by Kirkwood CC.  The Panthers were beaten by Iowa Central, 11-3, in their first test on Friday and then got blanked by Kirkwood, 10-0, as they were eliminated from the tourney.

Against Iowa Central, ECC got on the board right away with a couple of first-inning runs and they later added a run in the top of the 3rd to pull to within 5-3.  But they didn't score after that as the Tritons secured the win.  Madeline Myer had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for Ellsworth, Gracie Pierce provided a double, 2 runs and an RBI and Maddy Harding scored a run.  Emma Gordon and Taryn Cory had the other hits for ECC.  Saige Keller went the first 2 innings as the starting pitcher and Lauren Brennan went the rest of the way.

The Panthers were shut out on just 4 hits in the Kirkwood contest, 2 of them by Myer and 1 apiece by Gordon and Cory.  Brennan and Keller combined for the pitching duties.

Ellsworth ended the season with a 5-41 record.
