ECC Softball Heads to Postseason After 2 Losses in Pella

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth softball team will get ready for postseason play after they ended the regular season with a doubleheader against the Central College junior varsity Monday.  The Panthers lost 10-6 and 5-2.

Ellsworth fell behind 6-1 after 2 innings in the opening game.  Lauren Brennan stroked a single and two doubles and drove in 3 runs for ECC.  Maddy Harding also had 3 hits, 2 singles and a double, and scored 3 times.  Emma Gordon tripled and Harding swiped 2 bases.  Jocelyn Hartley pitched a complete game for the Panthers allowing only 4 earned runs.

The Central JV broke a 2-2 tie with a 3-run 5th inning to claim the nightcap.  Harding and Brennan continued their hot hitting with Harding going 2-for-4 and Brennan 2-for-3.  Gracie Pierce also supplied 2 hits.  Harding and Taryn Cory scored the ECC runs.  Saige Keller threw another complete game for Ellsworth, giving up just 2 earned runs and 2 walks with a pair of strikeouts.

The Panthers now go to postseason action when they take on Iowa Central CC on Friday in Cedar Rapids.
