IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- No. 8-ranked Kirkwood CC took all 4 games in a pair of doubleheaders against Ellsworth CC, with 2 of the contests played on Mar. 24 and the other 2 on Mar. 27.  The Eagles won 12-2 and 21-0 in the first  games, and 19-2 and 9-1 in the final doubleheader.

Kirkwood set the tone for the series with a 7-run 3rd inning in game one.  ECC got their runs in the 3rd when Lauren Brennan knocked in Maddy Harding and Emma Gordon, who had singled and doubled, respectively.  Brennan had another hit and Taryn Cory, Lili Ruiz and Kierstyn Sutton also collected hits for the Panthers.  Brennan went the distance in the circle.

KCC wasted no time in the 2nd game, plating 11 runs in the 1st inning on the way to the 5-inning victory.  They added 5 runs in the 3rd and 4 more in the 5th.  Ellsworth had 4 hits, from Gordon, Cory, Katie DeMaio and Sutton.  Jocelyn Hartley started and was replaced by Marleigh Sikes in the 1st inning.  Ruiz finished up.  The 3 ECC hurlers allowed 19 hits and 10 walks.

Nine runs in the 3rd inning got the Eagles going in game 3 of the series.  Brennan drove in a run for Ellsworth and Harding and Gordon both scored.  The hits came from Gordon, Madeline Myer, Brennan and Sutton.  Cory and Hartley shared the pitching duties.

Harding doubled and homered in the nightcap, the home run accounting for ECC's lone run.  It was her 4th round tripper of the spring. Cory produced the only other hit.  Brennan threw a complete game with 3 Ks.

The Panthers are slated to play doubleheaders against Dakota County Tech at home this Saturday and Sunday.
