ECC Softball Beaten Twice By Metropolitan

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI -- Ellsworth lost both games of a doubleheader with Metropolitan CC on Wednesday, falling 16-7 and 9-4 on the road.

The Panthers scored all of their 7 runs in the opening game in the 5th inning.  MCC tallied at least 2 runs in 5 of 6 innings.  ECC had 6 hits, all singles.  Gracie Pierce and Sierra Robinson each had 2 hits and Maddy Harding and Katie DeMaio 1 apiece.  Robinson and DeMaio both had 2 RBIs.  Saige Keller started for Ellsworth and threw 3 innings.  Lili Ruiz worked 1 inning in relief and Haley Martinez finished up with 1 2/3 innings.  

Taryn Cory and Jocelyn Hartley did the pitching in the nightcap, Cory going 4 innings and Hartley 2.  ECC owned a brief 1-0 lead after an inning and a half, but trailed 8-1 by the end of the 4th.  Lauren Brennan slugged a home run and also singled.  She scored 2 runs and knocked in 2.  Harding had a double and she and DeMaio had RBIs.  Madeline Myer and DeMaio scored two runs each.

The Panthers are scheduled to open conference play against Iowa Central this weekend.
