Ellsworth Places Six Players On All-Region Softball Teams

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Fresh off a runner-up finish in the region softball postseason tournament, Ellsworth CC had six players chosen for the All-Region XI teams announced Thursday by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

Gintare Paskocimaite represents the Panthers on the all-region 1st team as an infielder.  Pitcher Delaney Vetter and outfielder Kaysee Dale along with Chelsea Buck were named to the 2nd team, Buck as a utility player.  Infielder Chloe Roberts and outfielder Gwen Hovorka were Honorable Mention selections.

Here are the season statistics for the all-region Panthers and comments from ECC head coach Nate Forsyth:

Gintare Paskocimaite -- .385 batting average, 34 runs, 50 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 32 RBIs, .487 on-base percentage, .662 slugging percentage; Coach Forsyth says: "Gintare had a good year all-around for us.  She hit 2nd or 3rd in our lineup and was an important piece of our offense.  She tied for 2nd on the team in RBIs and led us in average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage."

Delaney Vetter -- 14-14 W-L with a 3.73 ERA, 175 Ks in 169 IP, 26 games started, 21 complete games, 3 shutouts, 1 save; Coach Forsyth says: "Delaney had a great year for us in the circle.  She won a number of big games for the Panthers and was named the ICCAC Pitcher of the Week in the final week of the season."

Kaysee Dale -- Played in all 54 games, .365 batting average, 46 runs, 65 hits, eight doubles, .421 on-base percentage, .410 slugging percentage, 24 stolen bases; Coach Forsyth says: "Kaysee set the table for our offense.  Batting leadoff, she led out team in at-bats, hits, runs and stolen bases.  She is also an excellent defender and one of the best in the region.  Kaysee started every game for us and was a tremendous leader."

Chelsea Buck-- Played in all 54 games, .327 batting average, 34 runs, 55 hits, 19 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 51 RBIs, 106 total bases, .386 on-base percentage, .631 slugging percentage.  Coach Forsyth says: "Chelsea had a great season for the Panthers at the plate and was a great run-producer for our offense.  She led the team in homers, doubles and total bases.  Chelsea was another great leader for our team."

Chloe Roberts -- Played in all 54 games, .372 batting average, 28 runs, 51 hits, nine doubles, three triples, four home runs, 27 RBIs, .430 on-base percentage, .569 slugging percentage.  Coach Forsyth says: "Chloe battled injuries all season and still put together a really good year.  She was third on our team in hits and led us in triples.  She also won two games as a pitcher, one of them a shutout."

Gwen Hovorka -- .314 batting average, 32 runs, 44 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 32 RBIs, .373 on-base percentage, .550 slugging percentage.  Coach Forsyth says: "Gwen was a middle-of-the-order bat who produced 18 extra-base hits for us.  She was a great defensive player in leftfield and occasionally filled in at 1st base.  Gwen provided a lot of leadership during the year."

"All six of these players had great seasons," the ECC coach said, "and they played very hard all year long.  It was a great group and I was honored to coach all of them."
