Panthers, Blackhawks Play Half of Weekend Series

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Southeastern clipped Ellsworth 2-1, then won 10-6 in the nightcap on Saturday, before the second doubleheader of the weekend series between the two was postponed.  The two teams are slated to make up the postponed games on Apr. 29 on the Panthers' home diamond.

The opening game Saturday was scoreless until each team scored a single run in the 5th inning.  SCC then got the game-winner in the 7th.  Gintare Paskocimaite brought in Kaysee Dale with the lone tally for the Panthers.  They had two of the three ECC hits; Chelsea Buck collected the other one.  Delaney Vetter was a tough-luck losing pitcher, giving up just four hits and striking out seven.

SCC used a five-run 4th inning and three more scores the next frame to win game two.  Paskocimaite belted a two-run homer, Buck cracked two doubles and Gwen Hovorka and Mya Mathes also doubled for the Panthers.  Six different players each scored a run and Paskocimaite and Hovorka drove in two runs and Mathes and Chloe Roberts one apiece.  Roberts started in the circle and took the loss.

Ellsworth (17-25) is scheduled to play its final road games of the regular season on Wednesday at NIACC before the makeup twinbill with SCC the following day.
