Ranked DMACC Closes Out ECC Softball

BOONE, IOWA -- DMACC, rated 3rd in NJCAA Division II, took all four games in a weekend series with Ellsworth CC, winning 7-2 and 9-1 Saturday, and 11-3 and 12-4 Sunday.

Despite outhitting their opponent, 9-5, the Panthers lost the opener the first day.  Three of the ECC hits were from Kaysee DaleGwen Hovorka accounted for the first run in the 6th inning with her 3rd homer of the spring and Chelsea Buck singled home Grace Gordon the next inning.  Two of DMACC's five hits were home runs.  Delaney Vetter went the distance in the circle for ECC and struck out eight in six innings.

Ellsworth tallied a run in the top of the 1st in game two and then was blanked after that.  Gintare Paskocimaite knocked in Dale for the lone run.  Chloe Roberts singled twice and Ally Sparks once for the Panthers and Roberts and Cheyanne Collins shared the pitching chores.  The Bears scored three in the 2nd and four in the 4th.

Sunday's action began with DMACC taking a 7-1 lead after two innings in the opener.  Buck slugged her team-leading 7th homer and she and Paskocimaite had two-hit games.  Sparks, Bri Howard and Roberts also had hits.  Vetter started and was replaced by Sparks for the final inning.

ECC pushed across all four of the runs in the 5th inning in the final game.  Paskocimaite slammed a double and her 4th long ball of the year, a 3-run shot.  Kailey Becker had the other RBI.  Collins and Roberts did the pitching.

The Panthers go on the road this week for two games at Kirkwood Wednesday and two more at Northeast (Neb.) Thursday.
