Liggins Fuels ECC Road Victory

NORFOLK, NEBRASKA --  Led by Cameron Liggins' career-high 31 points the Ellsworth CC men moved into first place all by themselves in the conference standings as the Panthers wiped out Northeast (Neb.) CC, 115-95, on Wednesday night.  The win, the 15th of the season for ECC, leaves them one-half game in front of DMACC and Kirkwood in the ICCAC.  Ellsworth is 7-1 in the league and the 2nd place teams are 6-1.

Liggins poured in his 31 points in 26 minutes of action and was joined by four teammates in double figures.  Clinton Efinda scored 23 points, Arlandus Keyes 22, Chimobi Ikegwuruka 14 and Jordan Glenn-Hawkins 11.  Keyes nailed 5 of his team's 10 3-pointers and added 7 assists and 7 steals.  Ikegwuruka supplied a double-double with 13 rebounds to go along with his point total and Bessanty Saragba pulled down 11 boards.

Ellsworth pumped in 64 first-half points and added 51 in the 2nd period.  They shot 51.4 percent from the field (38-of-74), the 5th time in the last 6 games they have shot 50 percent or better.  The 115 points put up by the Panthers were a season-best.  It was the 3rd time in their 15-3 season they have scored over 100.

A key contest awaits the Panthers on Saturday when they host Kirkwood at Dittmer Gym in the first regular-season matchup between the rivals.
