Fast Recovery, Ellsworth Downs Spartans

CRESTON, IOWA --  Shaking off a disappointing loss to Marshalltown on their home floor only 24 hours earlier, Ellsworth CC defeated Southwestern CC, 75-71, on the road Saturday afternoon for the Panthers' 21st win of the season.

It was one of the best shooting games of the year for ECC.  They hit half of their field goal attempts (23-46) and 3-point tries (7-of-14) and connected on 22-of-28 free throw shots.

Shawn Fulcher was the lone starter to hit double figures with his 20 points.  He added 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Ellsworth got good production from Diondre Taylor and Jordan Glenn-Hawkins off the bench as they went for 16 and 15 points, respectively.

ECC will go into the final regular-season game at NIACC on Wednesday with a chance to grab a piece of 2nd place in the conference standings.  Iowa Lakes is the league champion and DMACC and Kirkwood are tied for 2nd, one game in front of Ellsworth.  An ECC victory Wednesday and losses by DMACC and Kirkwood would leave all 3 teams at 10-6 in the ICCAC.  The Panthers are 21-8 overall.
