IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth CC couldn't duplicate an earlier victory against rival Marshalltown CC and lost in the Friday afternoon rematch at Dittmer Gym, falling 73-68. The Panthers had claimed a road win at Marshalltown last month and appeared to be in good shape to sweep the Tigers when they took a 53-43 second-half lead. But MCC overcame the deficit and then held on to gain the split in the season series.
The Panthers hurt themselves by commiting a season-high 26 turnovers and made only 4-of-20 3-point attempts. And they were outrebounded 48-30.
Arlandus Keyes and Shawn Fulcher were the only Panthers to reach double figures. Keyes had 14 points to go along with 6 assists and Fulcher scored 13.
In a quick turnaround, Ellsworth will travel to Creston to face Southwestern CC on Saturday afternoon.
