Panthers Wallop Northeast

NORFOLK, NEBRASKA -- Ellsworth allowed the fewest points to a conference opponent this season in cruising to an 82-53 win against Northeast CC Wednesday night.  The Panthers scored 13 unanswered points in the 1st half, led 45-21 at intermission and put the clamps on NCC in improving to 7-5 in the ICCAC standings and 18-6 overall.

The hosts were limited to just 3 made 3-pointers in 20 attempts and shot 28 percent from the floor as ECC made it a clean sweep in the season series between the two.

The Panthers enjoyed a huge edge on the glass, 63-41, handed out 24 assists and blocked 12 shots, 5 of them by Issakha Niang.

The leading scorer for ECC was Jordan Glenn-Hawkins with 6 of his 7 field goals from behind the arc.  Glenn-Hawkins pumped in 20 points and Shawn Fulcher added 14.  The rebound leaders were Bruce Kanno, Saliou Seye and Rich Ashu with 8 apiece and Dior Davis was credited with 6 assists.

Ellsworth will look for some payback this Saturday when the Panthers battle No. 5 rated Kirkwood at Dittmer Gym.  ECC will be out for revenge after a 77-73 loss to Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids last month.
