Ellsworth Drops League Contest at DMACC

BOONE, IOWA -- In a battle for a share of 2nd place in the ICCAC standings at the midway point of the league schedule, DMACC outscored Ellsworth in a high-scoring affair between two nationally-rated teams, 92-86, Saturday afternoon.  With the win, DMACC moved into a tie for the runner-up spot in the conference with a 5-3 record while ECC falls to 4-4.

DMACC took a 45-41 halftime lead and although they stayed close in the final period, the Panthers couldn't overtake the hosts.  Even though they shot 53 percent from the field, ECC struggled at the free throw line, making only 14-of-27 attempts.

Five Ellsworth players reached double figures in scoring, led by Bruce Kanno who pumped in a season-high 22 points.  He also grabbed a team-best 7 rebounds.  Arlandus Keyes supported Kanno with 17 points and dished out 5 assists, Dior Davis added 14 points, Shawn Fulcher 12 and Rich Ashu 10.  Issakha Niang blocked 6 shots to push his season total to 56.

The Panthers play their 3rd straight road game this Wednesday when they take on league-leading Iowa Lakes in Estherville.  They'll return home to battle Iowa Central on Saturday afternoon.
