ECC Men Go 2-0 in Weekend Tourney

MASON CITY, IOWA -- The Ellsworth men's basketball team picked up a pair of victories in the Konigsmark Klassic, hosted by North Iowa Area Community College.  On Friday, the Panthers blasted Minnesota North-Itasca, 96-55, and followed that up with an 84-65 romp past Black Hawk-Moline on Saturday.  

In the rout of Minnesota North-Itasca, ECC placed four players in double figures, led by Shawn Fulcher's 15 points.  Dior Davis added 14 to go along with 6 assists and 4 steals, both team-high totals.  Diondre Taylor provided 13 points and Jordan Glenn-Hawkins 11.  Ezekiel Thompkins led the Panthers on the glass with 8 rebounds.

Fifteen players saw action for Ellsworth and 12 of them scored.  All 15 grabbed at least one rebound.  The Panthers limited their opponent to a 25 percent field goal percenatge and just 2-of-28 shooting  from behind the arc.

The victory against Black Hawk saw ECC gain a 36-31 halftime advantage and then expand the lead over the final 20 minutes.

Davis had a big game with a team-best 23 points and 13 rebounds.  He was 11-for-17 from the field.  Also in double-digit points were Bruce Kanno with 13 and Glenn-Hawkins with 10.  Kanno paced Ellsworth on the glass with 7 boards.  Fulcher tallied 9 points off the bench and dished out 7 assists and and Arlandus Keyes chipped in 8 points.  Saliou Seye, in a starting role, pulled down 10 rebounds.  

The ECC defense was strong once again, holding Black Hawk to 31 percent from the floor and 27 percent from 3-point range.

Ellsworth, winners of their first 3 games of the season, will prepare for a busy week on their home court, hosting 3 games at Dittmer Gym.  Minnesota West visits on Tuesday night and the Panthers have the Dale Howard Classic this weekend.  They will take on Western Technical College Friday night and Rochester Technical and Community College Saturday evening.
