SWCC Ends ECC Men's Basketball Season

CRESTON, IOWA -- Southwestern CC took a 36-27 lead at the half, then scored 55 second-half points and dumped Ellsworth CC in the semifinals of the Region XI postseason tournament, 91-67  The Panthers were unable to duplicate their performance from two nights earlier when they pulled off an upset of top-seeded DMACC, and ECC saw their season come to a close.

Sophomore guard Adam Jackson had a strong game in trying to keep the Panthers alive with a 31-point effort that included five of his team's 10 3-pointers.  Jackson also had three assists and three steals.  Josh Kamara added 12 points and nailed two 3s.  Rich Ashu was a solid contributor off the bench in his final seven games of the year, averaging eight points and five rebounds over that stretch.  Against SWCC, he poured in a season-best 13 points and garnered a team-high seven rebounds.

There was a big discrepancy in shooting between the Panthers and Spartans.  Southwestern shot 61.5 percent and ECC 40 percent.  The 26 field goals made by Ellsworth, however, tied for their second-highest total of the year.
