WEST BURLINGTON, IOWA -- Even though they got home runs from Jose Valentin and Nick Chasey, the Ellsworth Panthers lost a 7-5 road decision to Southeastern CC on Wednesday.
The homers were the 12th this season for Valentin and No. 11 for Chasey. They were 2 of only 5 hits in the contest for ECC. The Panthers' Tanner Short, who also has 12 long balls this spring, doubled and tripled. Sergio Natera had a single and scored 2 runs. Short and Dariel Colon stole bases.
The game was tied at 5 before SCC pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th for the final margin.
George Hansen, the starter, went 4 2/3 innings for the Panthers. Hadniel Payamps got an out and then Logan Fragomeni finished up on the mound. He took the loss.
ECC will take on DMACC in a 3-game series at home this weekend.
