IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth Community College baseball team placed two players on the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Division II All-Region teams announced this week. Sophomores Bryce Hall and Javier Melendez were both named Honorable Mention All-Region selections.
Hall, an outfielder from Indianola, Iowa and a Southeast Warren HS grad, was a 2-year starter for the Panthers. This past season he batted .317 with a team-leading 43 runs scored. Hall posted a .466 on-base percentage thanks to 46 hits, a team-best 43 walks and he was hit by a pitch 7 times. Hall had 9 doubles, 2 triples and 2 homers and committed only 2 errors in the outfield. The sophomore had earlier been named the ECC Male Athlete of the Year.
Melendez, from Salinas, Puerto Rico, topped the Panthers in 4 offensive categories. He sported a .335 batting average in 48 games and led ECC with his 54 hits, 13 doubles, 83 total bases and .516 slugging percentage. Making the All-Region team as a designated hitter, Melendez scored 25 runs, knocked in 36 and slugged 4 home runs.
