Ikegwuruka Earns Basketball All-American Honor

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Chimobi Ikegwuruka, the leading scorer on the Ellsworth CC team that reached the Final Four of the national tournament, has been named a 2nd team men's basketball All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.  A redshirt freshman, the native of Galway, Ireland, averaged 19.0 points a game while shooting just under 60 percent from the field and 70.5 percent from the free throw line.  He was also the leading rebounder for ECC at 10.3 boards a game and averaged 2.2 blocks and 2.1 steals per contest.  Ikwegwuruka's averages in 18 conference games mirrored his season stats:  19.3 ppg, 9.8 rebounds, 58.8 FG percentage and 72.2 free throw percentage.

Ikegwuruka is the 20th Ellsworth men's basketball player to be chosen for an All-American team and the it's the 2nd year in a row a Panther has achieved the honor.  Shawn Fulcher was selected to the All-American 3rd team last year.
