Panthers enter break 8-6 on the year

IOWA FALLS – Ellsworth Community College ended a four game slide on Tuesday when they defeated Quakerdale Prep Academy 85-69.  The Panthers came out in the first half and held a six-point lead before pulling away from the Eagles in the 16-point win. Nine players scored for the Panthers, with the majority of the damage done by three. Adam Jackson finished with a game-high 25 points. He also dished out six assists and tallied three steals. Tony Eddy added 22 points and five steals and Josh Donaldson finished with 21 points, four blocks and three steals.

ECC ended their 2019 at the Indian Hills Tournament on Friday and Saturday.  The Panthers beat Lake Region State 97-71 in the opening round. In that game, ECC led by 19 at the break (56-37) and never relinquished the lead. Ten different players scored for Panthers as they were 56 percent from the field and 64 percent from downtown. ECC drained 22 three-pointers as a team, eight from Jackson (28 points) and seven from Eddy (23 points). That set a new school record for threes in a game.

Next up was ninth-ranked Indian Hills in the title game. The Panthers struggled offensively in the 102-57 loss. They were led by Josh Donaldson led the team with 18 points and Eddy added 14.

ECC will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at North Central Missouri College.
