Ellsworth men's basketball has close calls

IOWA FALLS – The Ellsworth Community College men's basketball team is currently on a four-game skid that includes losses to Dakota County Technical College, DMACC and Southwestern Community College this past week.

On Monday, the Panthers hosted the ninth-ranked Blue Knights and fell 73-66. The second half, ECC got within one possession (51-48) before DCTC pulled away.  With under a minute left, Tate Muilenburg made it 66-60 but in the final minutes, the visitors were 5-6 from the free throw line to ice the game. The Panthers were led by Tony Eddy with 20 points. Both CJ Wright and Muilenburg added 12 points.

Wednesday, ECC traveled to DMACC. The Panthers had a 41-39 lead at the break but struggled in the second half for a 75-69 loss.  In the second 20 minutes, ECC was 10 of 37 from the floor and were just 18 percent from downtown. Eddy led all scoring with 21 points and Adam Jackson added 17.

The Panthers hosted Southwestern Community College on Saturday and dropped another close contest, 80-75. The game was close throughout, with just two points separating the two squads at the half. In the end, the Spartans were able to score more off of ECC turnovers for the win. Jackson led all scoring with 37 points and Eddy added 13.

The Panthers are now 6-6 and 0-2 in the ICCAC.
