The Ellsworth Community College Panther basketball team has signed shooting guard Tony Eddy of Byron, IL. Eddy logged an outstanding career at Byron High School, where he was a 1,000 point scorer.
"As we look to play a more up-tempo game, Tony brings us yet another scoring threat, and he has the ability to score in bunches," says ECC Head Men's Basketball Coach Troy Muilenburg. "His three-point range and his ability to score off the dribble will make him a hard one for opponents to match."
In Eddy's senior season, he averaged 22 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds a game; he shot 49.5% from the field and 41% from three point range. He set new Byron High School records for points in a season (655), field goals in a season (250), and three pointers in a game (9). He was the captain of his team and was named 1st Team All-Conference and 3rd Team All-State. He also went to the state tournament as a senior member of the golf team.
Eddy played in the IBCA All-Star game and was given the All-Star North Leadership Award.
