IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth's Adrian Palos, Sean Martin, Dominic McCarren and Isaiah Maumalanga were recognized for their play during the 2023 season by being selected to the Region 11 All-Conference teams.
In addition, 17 of their teammates earned a spot on the separate All-Region teams announced by the league office.
Palos, a freshman linebacker from Fort Myers, FL, led the conference in tackles with 74 and had a couple of huge games defensively with 21 tackles against Garden City CC and 19 stops against Dodge City CC. Palos also recorded 2 sacks.
Martin is a redshirt sophomore defensive back from Baltimore, MD, and he was 2nd on the Panthers with his 46 tackles. Martin forced 2 fumbles and recovered one.
McCarren led Ellsworth in receiving. The sophomore wideout from Rockford, IL, caught 20 passes for 232 yards.
Maumalanga is a sophomore offensive lineman from Dallas, TX, and rounds out the Panthers on the 27-player All-Conference team that also includes standouts from Iowa Western CC and Iowa Central CC.
Palos, Martin, McCarren and Maumalanga headline the ECC members of the All-Region teams. Their teammates who made those squads include running backs Nigel Cheeks (redshirt freshman, Milwaukee, WI), Calvin Swinney (sophomore, St. Louis, MO) and Nathan Castor (redshirt freshman, Fort Myers, FL), all of whom were honorable mention choices.
Joining McCarren as wide receivers are Jaali Parker (redshirt freshman, Chicago, IL), a 2nd-team pick who caught 2 touchdown passes, and Alex Clue (redshirt freshman, Palatine, IL) who's on the honorable mention list.
Offensive linemen who were named All-Region are Maumalanga (1st team), and Kendric Frank (freshman, Dallas, TX) and Jason Stroberg (redshirt sophomore, Rockford, IL), both on the 2nd team.
The defensive linemen selected are Jahlenn Huffman (sophomore, Fort Myers, FL), Mykell Sutton (freshman, Dallas, TX) and Emannuel Fandeh (freshman, Des Moines, IA), all on the 1st tem All-Region, and Wyatt Hollingsworth (freshman, Eldora, IA) on the 2nd team.
Along with Palos, Jaheed Morris (redshirt freshman, Fort Myers, FL) was named as a linebacker as an honorable mention pick.
The defensive backs joining Martin as All-Region selections are Robert Harris (sophomore, Belle Glade, FL) on the 1st team, Jeremiah Gill (redshirt sophomore, Waterproof, LA) and Sam Mitchell (sophomore, Chicago, IL) on the 2nd team, and Jaiden Tandy (freshman, Columbia, MO), honorable mention.
John Tonrey (freshman, Crofton, MD), a punter, rounds out the Panthers' All-Region choices.
Fandeh paced Ellsworth in sacks with 4.5. Sutton, Hollingsworth and Harris all had 2. Harris led with his 4 interceptions and Mitchell had 5 pass breakups. Marcus, Mitchell and Tandy each had an interception.
