Victory Over Iowa Lakes Gives Ellsworth Volleyball 3-Game Win Streak

Estherville, Iowa -- The Ellsworth CC volleyball team ran its winning streak to three with a 3-1 decision over Iowa Lakes Sunday afternoon.  In the streak, the Panthers have won all three matches by a 3-1 margin.  Against the Lakers, ECC won 25-10, 25-18 and 25-20 while Iowa Lakes notched their only set, 25-17.

The victory produced what was, statistically, maybe the number-one performance of the season for head coach Sara Jesse's Panthers.  Their hitting percentage of .266 was tops for the year; they tied for the best assists total with 48; the 78 digs were a season-high; and ECC's 10 blocks was the second-best number for the 2021 campaign.

Freshman Haley Forge piled up 25 digs to pace Ellsworth, with Kaitlyn Baer adding 15 and Gabi Damiano 14.  Baer and Damiano pounded 12 kills each and Jade Galligo had nine kills.  Vitoria Kazanovski collected 40 assists.  And Katie Winter and Damiano had three blocks apiece.

The win started what will be a busy week for the Panthers, now 3-5 for the season, as they host Hawkeye CC Tuesday and travel to Kirkwood CC Thursday.
