Ellsworth Community College volleyball fought with all they had but fell short in five sets Monday night against Marshalltown Community College.
MCC took the first set 25-20, but ECC came back and took the second set in a 25-18 win. The third set went to MCC 25-17, and the fourth set went to ECC 25-21. The score went back and forth in the fifth set, with MCC coming out ahead 15-13.
ECC was led by Tiffany Jacobson, who had 17 kills, 2 total blocks, 4 aces and 12 digs. She was followed by Nicole Nielsen who had 10 kills, 18 digs and 2 total blocks; Maddie Hoch had 7 kills and 2 total blocks; Ashley Kraber had 41 assists and 9 digs; and Carlin Whelpley had 15 digs and 2 aces.
The Panthers will be on the road for the next four games. They will be at Southeastern Community College on Oct. 12 at 7 pm and will then travel to Lexington, MO, for a weekend trip playing Neosho County Community College on Friday, Oct. 14 at 3 pm and then on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 9 am playing Coffeyville Community College, followed by Wentworth Military Academy at 7 pm.
