Former Panther Wrestler Joshua DaSilveira wins Pac 12 title

Former Ellsworth Community College wrestler Joshua DaSilveira has won the 197 lb. Pac 12 title for the Arizona State Sun Devils!

This is DaSilveira's final season at Arizona State. He upset the No. 1 seeded Reuben Franklin of California State University-Bakersfield for the second time this season, 6-5, in a close matchup. In the first round he pinned Dayden Del Toro of Boise State in 2:57. He then defeated JT Goodwin of Cal Poly in a 12-3 major decision victory before claiming his first Pac-12 title.

Securing the Pac 12 title allows DaSilveira an automatic bid to the NCAA Wrestling Championships at Madison Square Garden in March. His title, along with two of his teammates', helped cement the Sun Devils' second consecutive second place finish at the Pac 12 Championship with 113 points; they took second to Oregon State, which had 118 points.

DaSilveira is a two-time NCAA qualifier. He wrestled for ECC during the 2012-13 season and was NJCAA national champion.
