Offensive struggles continue for ECC women

The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball team hosted rivals Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and dug themselves a hole early before falling 71-40.

The Panthers trailed by 14 after the opening quarter and really struggled in the second. With five minutes to go in the half, the Tritons built a 28-8 lead.

To start the second half, Iowa Central scored the first seven points and pulled away from the hosts.

Ellie Barrows led the Panthers with 15 points and both Danny Woodruff and Lorelle Dean chipped in eight apiece.

On Saturday, Feb. 1 ECC traveled to Keokuk to take on Southeastern Community College and fell 68-40.

Once again the Panthers struggled shooting, making just 22 percent from the field and 21 percent from downtown. ECC also had 20 turnovers in the loss.

Both Barrows and Dean finished with 11 points for the Panthers.
