Panthers drop two at home

The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball team played a pair of home games this week.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15 the Panthers hosted Southeastern Community College. One bad quarter by the Panthers took them out of contention for their first win of the season.  ECC trailed by just three points after the first quarter but were outscored 12-3 in the second and fell by a 74-46 final in front of a home crowd. Ellie Barrows led the team with 13 points and Keara Williams added 12.

Bad weather over the weekend postponed the contest between the Panthers and No. 5 NIACC to Sunday, Jan. 19. The Trojans ran away with a 99-32 decision.  NIACC jumped out to a 30 point lead after the first quarter and built a 52-15 lead at the half.  Barrows was the only player in double figures with 13 as Danny Woodruff was second with seven points.

The Panthers are on the road this week with a game at top-ranked Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday and at Iowa Lakes Community College on Saturday.
