Panther women on the brink of first victory

IOWA FALLS – The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball team is getting closer to its first victory.

On Wednesday, the Panthers traveled to Boone to take on DMACC. It was a three-point game after the first 10 minutes. However, a bad second quarter by the visitors allowed the Bears to pull away for a 70-45 decision. Offensively, Danny Woodruff and Keara Williams led ECC with eight points. As a team, the Panthers shot just 26 percent and 12.9 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Saturday ECC hosted Southwestern Community College battled in a close game. In the final minutes, the Spartans made key free throws handing the Panthers a 75-67 loss. Four ECC players were in double figures. Williams led all scoring with 17 points, she also added six steals. Bailey Stroud finished with 15 points, Woodruff 14 and Ellie Barrows 13 in the loss.

The Panthers are now 0-11 on the season and 0-2 in the ICCAC.
