Panthers split in first two games after break

The Ellsworth Community College women's basketball suffered a tough loss on Jan. 8 in its first game back from Christmas break.

In a hard fought road game against Southeastern Community College, the first half was back and forth with ECC leading 34-33 at the half. The Panthers led most of the second half but fell short in the end with a 65-54 loss.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Keziah Lews with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Jordyn Lehman was also a big contributor with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

The Panthers rebounded from the loss with a win on Jan. 11 against Southwestern Community College, 52-46.

Lewis led the Panthers with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Molly Greenfield and Justice Thigpen each contributed 9 points, and Lehman led the team in rebounds with 10 and added 8 points for the win.

The ECC women play their next game Jan. 15 on the road against DMACC at 5:30 pm. They will play at home on Jan. 18 against Iowa Central Community College at 1 pm.
