Cali Byrn signs with Pittsburg University

Ellsworth Community College softball's Cali Byrn (Lawrence, KS) has signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.

When making her choice in where to continue after ECC, Pittsburg was a place she could see herself. "I toured the school my senior year of high school but I decided JUCO was a better decision for me," commented Byrn. "I'm lucky to be given the opportunity to continue my athletic career at the D2 level while also finishing my major at the school I originally wanted to attend." Byrn plans to study mathematics at Pittsburg.

The facilities and people at Pittsburg were also a selling point for Byrn. "They have some of the best facilities in the conference. I'm excited to get started in the fall with Coach Balazs and Coach Taylor. I know that they're going to push me and continue to better me as a softball player and an individual."

Byrn was a leader for the Panther softball team her two years at ECC. She had 23 RBI's her sophomore year and six homeruns. In her freshman year at ECC Byrn hit 35 RBI's and nine homeruns. She also received ICCAC All-Region Honorable Mention honors.

"I have had a great two years at ECC. I grew immensely as a person thanks to the help of my coaches, teammates, professors, and friends."
