ECC's softball fall update

The Ellsworth Community College softball team has played the last of its fall games, but the student-athletes are now keeping busy getting ready for the spring season. Their coaches report that the ladies are raising funds, studying hard, and also having some fun.

The Panthers held an inner-squad Halloween scrimmage, which they played while wearing costumes. The team also worked at a recent Iowa State University football game to raise funds for the ECC softball program.

The coaching staff is happy to announce that four players were recently inducted into the ECC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national community college academic honor society. The honorees include Sydney Vrban (Waukee, IA), Mady Ratchford (Independence, IA), Bri Schaefer (Denver, IA), and Jenna Boardman (Genoa, IA).

First year ECC Head Softball Coach Kayla Farnsworth has this to say about the team, "Right now we are dedicated to raising our team GPA, weightlifting, cardio, and mental training. The team is also working on individual training to break down all facets of the game and then piece them together so we are ready to compete in the Spring. We are also getting ready to begin our community service projects."
