Shelby studied at Ellsworth from 2012-2013, from there she transferred to the University of Northern Iowa where she was an Athletic Training student from 2014 until 2017 when she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. Before joining Ellsworth, Shelby worked as an Athletic Trainer for Welia Health (formerly FirstLight Health System). She was an Athletic Trainer at two high schools and worked in a clinic with a sports medicine physician from August 2017 until March of 2019. Shelby started working as an Athletic Trainer for Ellsworth in March of 2019.

Shelby is married to Cooper, and they have two dogs named Mauer and Pedroia. Shelby enjoys lifting, going to baseball games, watching Chiefs football games with her family, kayaking, and traveling.
