ECC Volleyball Named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year; 11 Panthers Also Honored

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- After compiling a team grade point average of 3.50, the Ellsworth CC volleyball squad earned distinction as a 2021-22 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. It was a repeat Team of the Year honor for the ECC volleyball program.  And 11 ECC volleyball players were honored as All-Academic Team members.

Sophomore Gabi Damiano and freshman Emma Rosonke earned All-Academic 1st Team honors with GPAs of 4.0 for the year.  On the All-Academic 2nd Team were freshmen Nuria Bravo Santos and Louise Lion with their GPAs between 3.80 and 3.99.  Sophomores Sydney Clark, Hanna Forge, Haley Forge, Yoliann De Jesus Tejedor and Meghan VanDePol along with freshmen Yani Diaz and Katie Winter are the All-Academic 3rd Team selections for ECC with GPAs between 3.60 and 3.79.    

For the 2021-22 academic year, Ellsworth had four of its athletic teams gain Team of the Year honors and 45 ECC student-athletes earned the All-Academic award, up from 28 the year before.  Of the 45 individuals who qualified, 25 were sophomores and 20 were freshmen.  There were nine repeat honorees from last year including Clark and Haley Forge.
