Panthers Put 3 On All-Conference Volleyball Team

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Three Ellsworth Panthers earned spots on the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference volleyball teams announced this week.  Sophomore outside hitter Gabi Damiano was named to the second team while teammates Emma Rosonke and Yoliann De Jesus-Tejedor, both middle hitters, made the Honorable Mention list.

ECC head coach Sara Jesse was happy to see her players get the recognition.  "These three have worked hard and been very consistent for us this year," Jesse said.  "Especially in our conference, the numbers they each put up in their respective areas against our opponents were impressive."

The Ellsworth coach said Damiano, from Iowa Falls, finished a great career as a Panther.  "Gabi did a great job for us the past two years as a six-rotation outside hitter who this season led us statistically in kills with 230 and digs with 395.  Especially being a primary target on serve-receive for other teams, she handled the pressure well and would step up to the challenge."

Jesse said that both De Jesus-Tejedor, a sophomore from Brandon, Fla., and Rosonke, a freshman from New Hampton, Ia., were a force at the net for ECC this fall.  "Our middles were so efficient offensively for us with them being first and second on the team.  Emma finished 6th overall in the conference with her hitting percentage of .296.  When we needed a kill or to find our rhythm our setters would find them for that kill we needed.  Both Emma and Yoli also anchored our defense for us so wel andl that allowed our defense to work around them and put pressure on the attacker.  Emma finished 4th overall in total blocks per set in the conference (.105) and is now the single-season blocks record holder at ECC with 107.  Yoli finished 4th in single-season blocks at Ellsworth with 96 and was 6th in the entire conference."
