Victor Coronado announced as new Head Men's and Women's Wrestling Coach at Ellsworth

Victor Coronado enters his first season as the Head men's and women's wrestling coach at Ellsworth Community College.  Coach Coronado comes with a very diverse and unique background in many aspects of coaching at the youth, prep, and national levels and has trained and coached numerous wrestlers all over the United States.

Coronado is a graduate of Afton Central High School in New York.  He was raised with a passion for wrestling, starting at the age of four, and completing his high school career as a 3-time New York State Wrestling Championships qualifier where he finished 3rd and 2nd in back-to-back years in his respective weight class. Coronado was also ranked nationally by WIN Magazine.  He wrestled for four years at Upper Iowa University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Human Services.

Coronado is a Certified USA bronze coach and has coached in prestigious wrestling events such as the Bill Farrell Open and the US and Las Vegas Open.  He assisted an eastern Iowa school district by establishing an all-girls high school wrestling team and coached at the youth and club levels of numerous wrestling teams.

When asked why he chose to come to Ellsworth, Coronado said, "I really liked what the wrestling program and team are about. I really connected with Nate (Forsyth) and Gunnar (Gardner) and Connor (Hanson). They are younger coaches and I like the vibe of the school and the direction it is going. The coaches and administration seem great and are motivated to make Ellsworth as successful as possible, which is why I loved the idea of coming here."
