MASON CITY, IOWA -- Nathan Lendt and Nolan Craine provided the wins for Ellsworth in the Panthers' 32-9 dual meet loss to NIACC on Thursday night. And both ECC grapplers won in impressive fashion. Lendt knocked off No. 2 ranked Deville Dentis, 7-4, at 149 pounds in a battle of two of the best wrestlers at their weight in the NJCAA. Lendt was coming off a disappointing loss to No. 3 rated Keaton Geerts of Iowa Central two nights earlier, a match in which Lendt had a 6-0 lead at one point. But he rebounded to post the first win of the evening for ECC.
Craine pinned Ryan Van Donselaar of NIACC in 2:25 at 174 for the other Ellsworth win.
NIACC, ranked 7th in the NJCAA, got a pin, a pair of major decisions, and three decisions by identical 7-2 scores to secure the victory.
The Panthers will wrestle Iowa Lakes next Thursday at home in their final dual meet of the year.
