Panthers place two in open

Two of nine Ellsworth Community College wrestlers placed in the final regular season open of the season on Saturday at Eau Claire, Wisc.

Both at 125, Dennis McNeal finished first and Camron Neal was third.

McNeal won his first match with a 31 second fall against Nebraska Weslyan's Shaemon Erb followed by decisions against UW-LaCrosse's Sawyer Sarbacker and Saint Cloud State's Robby Horsman. McNeal won the title with a 7-5 sudden victory decision over Brandon Bentacourt, also of St. Cloud State.

Neal won by a 13-3 major decision over Cole Kubesh of Concordia-Moorhead and then an 8-5 decision over Sam Camacho (Luther). Neal's only loss came in the semi-finals, a technical fall (17-0) by Brandon Betancourt of St. Cloud State. He bounced back to record his own technical fall, 20-5 over Horseman.
