#5 ECC wrestling falls in close match-up to #4 Iowa Central

The Ellsworth Community College #5 wrestling team went match for match with #4 Iowa Central but came up just short with a 19-17 loss in the Tuesday, Jan. 8th dual.

The first match (125) went to Iowa Central's Kevin Radcliffe by decision over ECC's Carter Cox. The next two matches would go to the Panthers with Hector Candeleria winning in a 13-6 decision over Josh Garcia (133) and Zach Donathan with a fall over Damond Lockner (141).

The next three matches Iowa Central would take wins with Yarhoski Audiua (149) with a 5-3 fall over Cardeionte Wilson, Ethan Karsten with a 5-3 decision over Zach Garza (157) and Travis Willers with a 10-3 decision over Wilifried Kadohou (165).

The Panthers trailed 9-12 going into the match-up at 174. ECC's Myron Crawford would take the match with a technical fall over Austin Lamm to push the Panthers ahead 14-12. ECC fell in the next two matches with a 3-1 decision by Brian Stanford (184) in overtime to Jordan Shakrikian and a major decision by Tyree Sutton over Bryce Pilcher (197).

The Panthers were down 19-14 going into their final match of the night at 285 pounds. ECC's Charles Griffin would get a 8-6 decision over Gunnar Cash but it wasn't enough to give ECC the victory, falling 19-17.

The Panthers will be on the road for their next match traveling to the NEO duals on Friday, Jan. 11.
