Justin Rees is in his second season as the head women's basketball coach at Ellsworth.  He was hired to lead the program in June 2022.  Rees came to ECC from Baker University in Kansas where he coached for 4 seasons.  While at Baker, he had 8 different players given All-Conference honors, including one player who was named an NAIA honorable mention All-American.

The ECC head coach had nearly 2 decades of collegiate coaching experience before he arrived at Ellsworth.  He coached and recruited student-athletes to more than 75 athletic and academic accolades in 23 years on the sidelines.

Prior to his stint at Baker, Rees served as Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at NCAA Division I Valparaiso University for 4 seasons.  While at Valpo, he helped coach 7 players to All-Conference awards, including 3 All-Freshman/Newcomer Team award winners.

During the 2013-2014 season, Rees served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Missouri Valley College.  That season, Rees had 2 players earn All-Conference awards, an All-American honorable mention award, and improved the program’s win total by 11 games.

Rees has also had coaching stops in his career as an Assistant Coach at multiple NCAA schools, including the University of Maine, Ferris State, and William Jewell. 

He graduated from Barry University, located in Miami Shores, Florida, with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications in 1997.  At Barry he was a member of the men’s basketball program for 4 seasons.
