IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women tied a season-high with 9 3-point baskets, were nearly perfect at the free throw line and pulled away in the 4th quarter for a 69-55 victory over Iowa Lakes at Dittmer Gym Wednesday night. The Panthers also had their 2nd-lowest turnover total of the year in securing the season sweep over the Lakers.
Four of the made 3-pointers came from Laia Santanach, one of 4 Panthers in double figures. ECC connected on 20-22 foul shots. And they led at all of the quarter breaks: 18-17 after one, 33-27 at the half, 46-39 after three, and then outscored ILCC, 23-16, in the 4th period.
Marin Lind Agustsdottir paced Ellsworth with 20 points. Ingrid Martinez Guillen scored 14 and Taylor Ross had 10. Favour Nmecha Anyaele led ECC on the glass with 9 boards and also blocked 3 shots. Ross and Ellyse Ball both had 7 rebounds.
The Panthers (8-14, 3-10) go to Creston to take on Southwestern on Saturday.
