ECC Women Edged at Home

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth got off to a good start in their conference matchup with Southeastern CC on Saturday afternoon at Dittmer Gym -- grabbing a 7-point lead after one quarter and maintaining that advantage into the second half before SCC rallied for a 62-58 victory.  The defeat came despite ECC holding the visitors to 31 percent shooting and winning the board battle, 51-34.  The Panthers' bulge on the glass was aided by a season-high 16 rebounds from Autumn Shull.  It was Shull's 11th game with 10 or more rebounds.  She leads the Panthers with 8.6 boards per game.

Alyssa Civitak paced the Ellsworth scoring with 21 points.  She nailed 4 threes.  Teresa Paulsen added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Halle Miller produced 10 points and 8 rebounds.  The 51 boards for ECC were its second-highest total of the year.

The Panthers were on top 20-13 after the first period and 33-32 at intermission.  They trailed 49-46 heading into the final 10 minutes and just couldn't make up the difference.  SCC connected on only 4-of-23 3-pointers, but their 14 turnovers were half of ECC's total.

Southwestern CC comes to Iowa Falls to take on Ellsworth on Wednesday night.
