Minnesota West Defeats ECC Women

WORTHINGTON, MINNESOTA -- Minnesota West took a 2-point halftime lead against visiting Ellsworth CC and then outscored the Panthers by two points in each of the next two periods to claim a 75-69 women's basketball win Sunday afternoon.

The hosts broke on top, 24-14, after one quarter and then saw the Panthers outscore them, 22-14, in the second stanza.  ECC couldn't quite get over the hump in the second half and failed to overcome 29 turnovers for the game.

Ellsworth had three players reach double figures in scoring, led by Aaliyah Chambers's 17 points.  Half of Victaeja Leavy's 12 points came on a couple of 3s and she had five steals.  Autumn Shull provided 10 points.  Teresa Paulsen, in only her 2nd game of the season, pitched in 9 points and hauled down a team-high 13 rebounds while blocking 5 shots.

The Panthers begin conference play on Wednesday night when they take on Iowa Western at 5:30 at Dittmer Gym.  They will be at Southwestern CC on Friday night.
